From an email sent to the church in April, 2004:
Dear Reverend and brother in Christ,
The Protestant Church of Boissy-Saint-Léger has got two angels carved by Bartholdi in 1874.
They
represent "La foi et l'espérance" ( Faith and Hope ) and are
ringing the bell to invite everybody to get in the church.
Just above the
door you can read "Dieu est amour" (God is Love).
We
know that your tower wears a frieze of sculpted figures representing baptism,
communion, marriage, death and
between them four angels sounding trumps.
Your
church and our church are the only ones in the world decorated with Bartholdi's
works.
We look like twin congregations.
The
centenary of Bartholdi's death is this year. Bartholdi died on October 1904.
Whe
are going to celebrate this anniversary in Boissy-Saint-Léger (20 Kms from
Paris)
We will
be very happy to receive some of yours in our town and church of Boissy-Saint-Léger.
Bartholdi worked to continue friendship between America and France.
We
shall be glad to built brotherhood with you beetween your church in Boston and
our church in Boissy-Saint-Léger.
We
are sad about what happen in Iraq. We pray for peace everywhere.
Ours thoughts
and prays are going to you and yours.
God bless you in the great joy of Easter
